I grew up with dogs and have always had a natural love for them. I've had about 10 dogs over the course of my life but I have to say that Christine is probably the most special of them.
I hadn't had a dog for about 5 years and although it wasn't a daily thought, getting another dog was always in the back of my mind. My current wife had once had a German Shepherd although that was some time back. We have a house with a very large back yard, which is ideal for a dog so the thought was even more enticing.
At one point I brought home a stray German Shepherd found in the industrial park I work in. As it turns out my wife was allergic to "Ginger" and after a month of getting to know her, we had to find her a new home.
A few months passed and we started talking about the possibility of looking for a dog again. We went from shelters to dog pounds to ads in the paper. Sure we saw a lot of cute, nice and sweet dogs but none of them were "that one" we had to bring home. At one point we saw a Pit Bull that seemed like a great dog but due to some of the popular misconceptions about Pit Bulls we were hesitant. We did some research on the web and everything pointed to a Pit Bull being the dog we wanted! We read how devoted and human friendly they were and almost everyone we read about was child friendly. The best part was that some people claimed even though they were allergic to dogs, they were not bothered by Pit Bulls.
